PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll cover having improved stability and abrasion resistance without greatly deteriorating suitability and without involving too much cost. SOLUTION: This roll cover of a calender or a press roll is designed to drain paper, cardboard, tissue paper or other fibrous webs in a press nip of a machine for handling a material web, especially for producing a fibrous nip. Ends thereof are connected to the roll shaft and have an elastomer material layer (1) and yarns (2 and 3) running in nearly the longitudinal and transverse directions from the web developing direction (5) are embedded for reinforcing. The stability and abrasion resistance are improved on the basis of the roll cover by embedding at least one layer of additional reinforcing yarns (4) in at least several sections of the layer (1) and running the yarns (4) at 20-70 deg. angle to the web direction (5). |
