PIXEL DEFECT DETECTION/CORRECTION DEVICE AND IMAGE PICK- UP DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image which is improved in quality and protected against the deteriorations caused by pixel defects in image quality by accurately detecting the pixel defects caused by defective pixels included in a solid-state image pick-up device. SOLUTION: A pixel defect detection/correction device is equipped with an A/D conversion means 16 which digitizes the image signals that are outputted from a solid-state image pick-up element mounted with a complementary color filter and contain pixel defects and a defect detection/correction means 17 which estimates the pixel value of a filter of the same color with the target pixel of the digitized image signals from the pixel value of a pixel of a different color filter around the target pixel of the digitized image signals through an estimating means, compares the estimated pixel value with the pixel value of the lateral same color filter separate from the target pixel by a pixel and the pixel value of the target pixel by the use of a comparison means, and corrects a pixel defect on the basis of the pixel value estimated by the estimating means and the pixel value of the lateral same color filter separate from the target pixel by a pixel.
