PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for an image pickup device, which can provide a video signal output with the number of lines matching a video format. SOLUTION: An imaging element is provided with a color separation filter for longitudinal stripes and is driven to mix pixels in a vertical direction so as to obtain the number of pixels corresponding to the video format on the basis of a video format setting entry so thereby outputting a signal with the number of lines in compliance with the video format.
