PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently store a large quantity of bills at once even when the bills are stored after retained temporarily. SOLUTION: In an opening part 32 of a storage 3, an upper lid 4 is arranged movably upward and downward to a storage main body 30. By means of separators 5A and 5B, the inside of the storage main body 30 is divided into an upper space 3A2 , a lower space 3B, and an intermediate space 3C between them to be communicated one another. A bill S fed by means of a feeding means 78 is received in an upper space 3A1 sectioned by the upper lid 4 to be temporarily retained in a retaining space 3A formed of the upper space 3A1 and an upper space 3A2 of the storage 3. The bill S temporarily retained in the retaining space 3A is received in a storage space 3B to be stored excepting in the case of returning it. In this way, the inside of the storage 3 is used as the retaining space 3A, and a retaining capacity close to a storage capacity of the storage 3 can be secured.
