PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make thinning-out processing performable without increasing timing signals in a liquid crystal display device having a signal line driving circuit and scanning line driving circuit arranged on an array board. SOLUTION: When letting a VGA panel (the number of scanning lines = 480) display PAL system video signals (the number of scanning lines = 574), for example, concerning the scanning line G5, a clock signal YCK is halted for P=2 cock periods; the ON period of the scanning line is made to P+1=3 horizontal scanning periods; and the video signals for the first two scanning lines of the three sent during this ON period are not displayed but only the signal for the last scanning line is displayed, that is, the scanning lines for P=2 lines are thinned out by a single thinning-out processing, and this processing is performed on (N-M)/P=47 pieces of scanning lines in the array.
