Fighting fibres on ships at sea, using sea-water as diluent, is carried out with foaming agent concentrate of raised foaming index, containing an amide oxide stabiliser, pref. a dimethyl amine oxide of a 10-16C fatty acid, in addition to a fatty alcohol stabiliser, pref. a 10-18C aliphatic fatty alcohol. Pref. weight amount (II) is greater than residual fatty alcohol content of synthetic foaming agent (such as fatty alcohol sulphate derivs). Pref. concentrate contains additives for controlling viscosity and/or freezing point, esp. glycols, glycol ethers and/or lower alcohols, and pref. >=10 wt.% extenders, partic. urea (per total wt. concentrate). |
