The invention relates to a lift system without a machinery room, comprising a driving motor (2), a driving disk (16), a protruding lift cage (3) and a counterweight (8). Said driving motor (2) drives, by means of the driving di sk (16), a flat belt-type carrier means (12) which is embodied as a V-ribbed belt, and which carries the lift cage (3) and the counterweight (8) and move s along vertical guiding mechanisms (5, 10).
