摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a joint between a horizontal CCD transfer path and a vertical CCD transfer path to be improved in both transfer efficiency from the vertical CCD transfer path to the horizontal CCD transfer path and transfer efficiency in the horizontal transfer direction. SOLUTION: A solid-state image pickup device is equipped with a photoelectric conversion unit where photodiodes converting light into signal charge are arranged in a two-dimensional manner in both a horizontal and a vertical direction, vertical transfer paths arranged in rows to transfer signal charges originating from the photoelectric conversion unit in a vertical direction, and a horizontal transfer path which is continuously connected to the vertical transfer paths and transfers signal charges in a horizontal direction. The side edge of an N well impurity injection region 6 forming the vertical transfer paths and the horizontal transfer path is obliquely formed in a horizontal transfer direction from an intersection at which the side edge crosses a second horizontal transfer electrode 9 adjacent to a first horizontal transfer electrode 8 located adjacent to the final transfer electrode 7 of the vertical transfer path adjacent, by which the vertical transfer paths are extended toward the horizontal transfer path.
