The invention relates to a packaging for transporting hazardous materials stored in one or more containers. According to the invention, the packaging comprises a parallelipipedal housing (1,20 and 50 ) made up of a semi-rigid material such as cardboard, inside which there is located a module (2, 21 and 51) having a rectangular cross-section and being made up of a semi-rigid material such as cardboard, including at least four side interconnected walls (12, 13, 14, 15, 23, 24, 25 and 26 or 62, 63 and 64 and 65) said walls being spaced from the said walls (4, 5, 6, 7; 54, 55, 56 and 57) of the housing (1, 20 and 51) so that one or more containers may be located inside the module (2, 21 and 51), and the remaining space inside said housing (1, 20 and 50 ) and the module (2, 21 and 51) is filled with a filler material made of expanded phyllosilicates, preferably expanded vermiculite.
