This invention relates to an inlet guiding device provided at the connection of an inlet pipe and cylinder cover for an internal combustion engine. Said device comprises inclined guiding blades projecting into the intake port in a cylinder cover to form a swirl in a cylinder. In a preferred embodiment, said guiding device is provided with a streamlined guiding blade fixed at the intake port in the cylinder cover by a flange. Said guiding blade is provided with a head part partially projecting into the swirl chamber in the cylinder cover near the side surface of the intake port, to prevent stream flowing into the swirl chamber in advance. It is preferred that the guiding blade is inclined toward the bottom of the intake port, and the width of the head of the blade is smaller. It is also preferred that the tip of the head of the blade is some of bent toward the back of the blade.
