The invention concerns a method for obtaining an active principle providing a soothing effect on tingling, skin burns, red spots or itchy skin conditions. The invention is characterized in that it comprises the following steps: a) dissolving in water with acid pH between 2.0 and 5.0 powdered Morus leaves, specifically the Morus nigra variety; b) separating the soluble/insoluble phases by filtering, centrifuging or elutriation; c) concentration in polyphenols; d) adjusting the pH; and e) sterilizing filtration to obtain a total mesophilic flora less than 100 germs/g and to eliminate yeast and mould. The invention also concerns the resulting active principle and cosmetic compositions incorporating said active principle.
