PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for reducing color irregularity in a panel plane by repeatedly performing stable discharges with good efficiency, and to provide a display device using the same. SOLUTION: The display device for displaying images by letting a plurality of cells selectively discharge, is characterized in being provided with a display panel comprising a plurality of the discharge cells, a driving means for applying driving pulses changing between a 1st potential and a 2nd potential to the selected discharge cells in the display panel, a detection means for detecting a lighting rate of the discharge cells to be turned on at the same time among a plurality of the discharge cells, and a control means for controlling the driving means so as to vary the duration of the 1st potential of the driving pulses according to the lighting rate detected by the detection means.
