A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting packets across a radio access network (130, 140). This may include identifying a first part of a packet and a second part of the packet and classifying one of the first part and the second part as being more important than the other part. This may further include transmitting the more important part of the packet differently than the less important part of the packet.
