The drive consists of a series of liquid-filled tanks (2) in which vertical endless chains (7) turn wheels (8) as they move up and down. The chains are fitted with containers (13) which are filled with compressed air from a compressor (1) at the bottom of the rising side. As each container reaches the top the escaping air is trapped and passed through a pipe (9) to a second tank, and so on, being finally released into the atmosphere through an outlet (12). In each of the tanks the rotation of the wheels is used to drive a generator (6) or other power system.
