It is attempted to search for a substance capable of controlling the expression of GRP78, which is one of molecule chaperones, from natural materials using the expression of GRP78 as an indication. As a result, a novel tetronic acid derivative compound JL68 represented by the following formula (I), which has an activity of inhibiting the expression of GRP78, is isolated from a metabolite of Streptomyces versipellis 4083-SVS6 strain. This compound JL68 can be obtained by culturing the above S. versipellis 4083-SVS6 strain and collecting from the culture supernatant.
