PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe pressure-compensated battery capable of generally preventing breakage of a pressure equalization device by particles or electrode dust in an electrolyte even if a high-pressure state is repeatedly changed to a low-pressure state and vice versa and capable of smoothly evacuating gas into the pressure equalization device even if the gas is generated in the electrolyte during trouble of the battery. SOLUTION: The pressure equalizing device 5 for equalizing the external pressure to the internal pressure by an extensible bellows communicating with the inside of a battery case 1, allowing the electrolyte to be fed and drained is installed under the battery case 1 having an electrode group 6 disposed in its inside and filled with the electrolyte, and a stopping spacer 11 and a filter 10 are installed between the lower part of the electrode plate group 6 and a bottom plate 4 provided with an opening 4a. A gas purging spacer with a side surface recessed part and a lower surface recessed part formed may be installed instead of the stopping spacer 11.
