PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adaptive gamma curve correcting device for liquid crystal display and a method therefor. SOLUTION: In the adaptive gamma curve correcting device for a liquid crystal display provided with a multi-display mode or different display states and the method therefor, one or more gamma curves are provided for the liquid crystal display and adapted to a display expression of the liquid crystal display in the different display mode or state. Each prepared gamma curve corresponds to an appropriate display mode or state and optimizes the liquid crystal display. At the time of performing an operation in one display mode, the gamma curves are switched to a selected appropriate gamma curve.
