PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive for a computer which makes it possible to easily and economically modify firmware applied to the disk drive for the computer from a decoder device and a DVD reproducing device comprising the decoder device. SOLUTION: When area numbers that the disk drive 10 for the computer and decoder device 20 have do not match each other, a CPU 23 for decoder device control rewrites the area number of the disk drive 10 so that the area numbers match each other.
