PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which bringing down of the cost can be achieved by eliminating space for a detecting means for each unit and the cost by having a toner full detecting means carrying out the detection of the existence of an intermediate transfer unit or a cleaning unit as well and simplifying the construction. SOLUTION: When a cleaning unit 23 is not loaded, the absence of the cleaning unit 23 is detected by constituting so that an optical path of the toner full detecting sensor 52 is intercepted by a flag 56a of a shutter 56. |
