PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill handling device capable of checking a failure of a sensor in a determination part during transaction for detecting a failed sensor in every transaction operation. SOLUTION: This bill handling device is provided with a bill depositing/ withdrawing part 1 for depositing/withdrawing a bill, a bill determination part 3 determining the denomination and true/false of the bill, a temporary storage 4 temporarily storing the bill, a bill storage 5 storing the bill, a bill conveying passage 2 conveying the bill between these sections, a storage part storing the bill stored in the temporary storage, and a main control part controlling the whole of the device. The main control part supplies a test bill stored in the storage to the determination part via the conveying passage 2, and the determination part is provided with a failure detection means determining whether each of plural kinds of sensors constituting the determination part is failed or not by using the test bill. The failure detection means determines presence/absence of a failure during transaction by the bill handling device. |
