PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device excellent in external light contrast, with which it is easy to print phosphor paste by dropping it into the bottom part of a space surrounded by barrier ribs and which causes little fluctuation in application volume of phosphors. SOLUTION: The plasma display device is provided with a plurality of pairs of discharge sustaining electrodes 12 formed almost parallel with each other along a first direction X inside a first substrate 11, a dielectric layer 14 formed inside the first substrate 11 so as to cover the discharge sustaining electrodes 12, and barrier ribs 24 formed inside a second substrate 12 to form a tightly sealed discharge space 4 between the first substrate 11 and the second substrate 21. The barrier ribs 24 are equipped with longitudinal ribs 24a formed almost in parallel along a second direction Y, different from the first direction X, and lateral ribs 24b formed almost in parallel along the first direction X. Notched parts 26 are formed at least at a part of the longitudinal ribs 24a and/or the lateral ribs 24b for communicating between spaces surrounded by longitudinal ribs and the lateral ribs along the first direction X and the second direction Y. Moreover, the lateral ribs 24b consist of two rows or more lateral rib elements. |
