In a radio reception apparatus, a variable gain of a reception amplifier (2) is adjusted by an AGC controller (16) for each reception signal frame and the AGC operation is executed. The AGC controller (16) detects the end moment of the AGC operation and reports the detection to a digital signal processor (15). The digital signal processor (15) executes a predetermined signal processing for a digital signal obtained after the end of the AGC operation in a known signal interval. This can prevent generation of a reception error due to an invalid amplitude value of a digital signal by the AGC operation.
