An engine supports communications among source and destination computer systems. The source systems generate source events. A source event describes a change in a condition of data in a repository at a source system or serves as a notification of data from the source system. The engine includes connection managers receiving source events (510) from the source systems. The engine also includes a database storing rules describing pre-effects and effects processing (512) to performing response to the source event, the connection manager retrieves any associated rules (514) from the database and stores the source event, the connection retrieves any associated rules from the database and stores the source event and rules in a queue (516). A queue manager reads, applies pre-effect processing to the data from the source event to generate a destination event, and applies the effect processing to deliver the destination event data to the appropriate destination systems (522).
|
