The invention relates to a draught measuring device meant either for ships undergoing repairing or various steps of cargo operations, or for technical surveys. According to the invention, the device comprises a rule (1) with the function of a vernier, having at its upper end a reference plate (2) which is so arranged to match with the first draught mark above the water level, while along its length, a transparent cylinder (4) is mounted by means of two clamps (3), at the lower part, said cylinder having a valve (5) which allows the water to enter the cylinder (4), when it is open, by the lifting of a rod (6) located inside the cylinder (4) and pulled by a lever (7) mounted in an articulation (8) under the reference plate (2), while when closed, said valve blocks the water column inside said cylinder, thereby allowing the water level to be read on the meter rule (1), in order to reduce the influence of the waves upon the measuring operation, the transparent cylinder (4) being provided with a coupling (9) placed beyond the valve (5), a hose (10) being connected to said coupling (9) and having a narrowed orifice (11) with the function of a viscous damper at the other end.
