The turbo-charging control system is such that at low flow rate, a first turbo-compressor (10) operates, and at high flow rate two turbo-compressors operate. The output gases from the turbines pass through pollution control chambers and catalysers, reducing overall pollution. The system for turbo-charging an internal combustion engine (1) includes at least two turbo-compressors (10,11). The control system is such that at low flow rate, the first turbo-compressor (10) operates, and at high flow rate both turbo-compressors operate. There is a system for recycling exhaust gas which also serves as a bypass for the turbo-compressors at low flow rate, but at high flow rate the exhaust gas is distributed between the turbo-compressors. There is one conduit only (30) for the supply of recycled exhaust gas, and there is one pollution control chamber (20) mounted in series with the turbine of the first turbo-compressor. A catalyser is mounted at the output of the pollution control chamber. There may also be a catalyser mounted at the output of the turbine of the second turbo-compressor. |
