PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording tape cartridge with which a drive unit can be miniaturized. SOLUTION: The recording tape cartridge is provided with an almost rectangular case to rotatably house a single reel around which a recording tape is wound, an opening which is formed by notching the corner of the case at a loading side to the drive unit and for drawing a leader member attached to the end of the recording tape, a shielding member which moves on a predetermined circumference at a side wall parallel to a loading direction to the drive unit, opens and closes the opening and has the shape of an almost circular arc in a plane view, and an operation part which is projectingly formed at the shielding member, operated by an opening and closing member provided at the drive unit and moves over a position where the moving locus of the shielding member approaches most to the side wall in the plane view.
