PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffering device which can continuously write data from a CD-ROM to a buffer RAM even when data writing to the buffer RAM is temporarily stopped and restarted. SOLUTION: A header decision circuit 35 decides that a header address from a header read circuit 33 is OK when deciding the header address is not continuous between two successive data sectors and decides that the head address is NG when deciding that the head address is not continuous between the two successive data sectors. A continuous NG header counter 47 counts header address NG's from the last header address OK to right after data writing is stopped. A transfer start delay circuit 43 delays a write start instruction from a transfer start/stop register 35 by the period of sectors as many as the number in the continuous NG header counter 47.
