Flat plasma display panels of coplanar type comprise, on their front faceplate, a network of electrodes arranged in pairs. Each electrode consists of a transparent electrode (2a, 2b) with low conductivity paired with a metal electrode (3) with high conductivity. Said electrodes should be free of resistive defects. All the components are controlled by capacitive analysis by injecting (5a, 5b) two out-of-phase signals (S, S') into two electrodes (2a) and (2b) of a common pair and in detecting (6a) the signal (D) on one of the electrodes (2a). The injection and detection of the signals are performed without any mechanical contact with the electrodes. The signal injecting (5a, 5b) and detecting (6a) devices are displaced relative to the substrate to control the entire surface of the substrate. |
