The invention relates to a swimming pool made of unsaturated polyester resins and to a process for making the same, the obtained product having variable dimensions, being usable as swimming pools, basins for storing non-aggressive liquid products, basins for collecting residual or rain water, storage basins within the processing lines in plants, or covered or not covered storage basins for non-toxic chemical or food products. According to the invention the swimming pool comprises more layers of glass fibres of the stratimat type or fabric type, said layers being impregnated with unsaturated ortophthalic- or isophthalic-type polyester resins, being dimensionally stabilized, reinforced at the external side and optionally thermally insulated.The process for making the swimming pool as claimed by the invention, consists in optimally combining more forming processes: manual impression moulding, spraying, vacuum injection, with flexible bag, pressing at a relatively constsnt temperature and simultaneous projection of the resin and chopped glass fibre mixture.
