PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely grasp crust movement and to accurately predict earthquake. SOLUTION: The earthquake prediction system predicts earthquake based on the observation result of crust movement. There are provided a distance measuring part 11 which regularly observs a distance between a measurement point and a observation reference point set on a different crustal plate at a crustal plate border when observing the crust movement at the crustal plate border, an extension/contraction rate calculating part 30 which calculates the extension/contraction rate of a distance between the observation reference point and the measurement point based on the observation result at the distance measurement part 11, and a judging part 40 which predicts earthquake occurrence time based on the secular change of the extension/contraction rate of the distance between the observation reference point and the measurement point which is calculated by the extension/contraction rate calculating part 30. |
