PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating device, an image forming apparatus, a heating control method, a storage medium and a program by constituting the fixing device of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus using an induction heating system so that avoiding the breakdown of the device on a condition that the device can act may be compatible with preventing serious loss such as excessive temperature rise and the rupture of the device such as the rupture of an element. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is equipped with a current detection part 723 detecting a current flowing to an exciting coil 702 to which high frequency power is applied from an induction heating power source 710, a comparison part 724 comparing the detected current of the coil 702 with a previously set reference value, a pulse generation part 716 deriving on-time and off-time for switching the high frequency power applied to the coil 702 at optional set values respectively, and performing control to decrease or increase the width of on-time for switching in accordance with the compared result by the comparison part 724.
