PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passive Q switch laser in which the peak intensity of laser light output can be increased. SOLUTION: Position of the laser light incident plane of a solid state laser medium 3 is shifted from the laser light condensing position of condensing optical systems 6 and 7 in the direction of optical axis. Consequently, a laser light having a diameter larger than ordinary diameter impinges on the surface of the solid state laser medium 3. Laser light intensity in the central part of the output from a semiconductor laser element can exceeds sufficiently over the oscillation threshold value of a passive Q switch laser. Total power of laser light being outputted from the passive Q switch laser increases as the beam diameter increases and the temporal peak intensity is enhanced significantly. In other words, the temporal peak intensity of laser light being outputted increases as the power density of input laser light is decreased.
