PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the assembly property of an internal combustion engine having a valve system by preventing a spherically-supported rocker arm from being inclined in the axial direction thereof to facilitate the installation of a cam shaft from an upper part of the rocker arm. SOLUTION: The valve system of the internal combustion engine has rocker arms 23 and 24 which are spherically supported by a lash adjuster, and cam shafts 25 and 26 disposed above the rocker arms 23 and 24. The cam shafts 25 and 26 are rotatably supported by a bearing part of a cam holder comprising a lower cam holder 30 tightened to a cylinder head 2 and an upper cam holder. A projecting part 56 to prevent the rocker arms 23 and 24 from being inclined in the axial direction A2 of the cam shafts 25 and 26 by the contact with the rocker arms 23 and 24 is provided on bearing parts 41, 44 and 45 and partition parts 54 and 55 integrated with the lower holder 30 facing both sides of the rocker arms 23 and 24 in the axial direction A2.
