PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coated paper which does not substantially cause offset rotary wrinkles and blisters and is used for printing, and to provide a method for producing the paper. SOLUTION: This coated paper which is used for printing and has a water vapor transmission rate M65 of <=500 g/m<2> .24 h is obtained by disposing the coating layers of a PVA-based resin composition comprising (A) polyvinyl alcohol having a saponification degree of >=90 mol. % and (B) polyacrylic acid (or its salt) and/or a cellulose derivative (or its salt) in a (A):(B) weight ratio of 100:0.1 to 10 on both the sides of substrate paper, and then disposing a coating layer consisting mainly of a pigment and an adhesive on at least one side of the base paper.
