PURPOSE: Provided is a method for increasing the pore volume of an alumina catalyst support which provides the alumina catalyst support having the increased pore volume. CONSTITUTION: In preparing spherical alumina particles according to an oil-dropping method, the method for increasing the pore volume of an alumina catalyst support is characterized in that the spherical alumina particles gone through oil removing after oil-ripening is dried under the air containing 10-40 mol.% of ammonia and 20-50 mol.% of moisture at a temperature of 90-120 °C for 24-48 hours.
