PURPOSE: A method for informing a position of a lost terminal by using a mobile communication terminal having a GPS function and a mobile communication terminal using the same are provided to extract a position of a lost terminal and inform a user about the position on a real time basis through a personal mail box or e-mail. CONSTITUTION: When a user loses a terminal, he/she accesses a loss-informing server, receives a user authentication, and reports the terminal loss(S310). The loss-informing server searches a user database to extract an identification code of the lost terminal and sends a current position transmission request to the lost terminal(S311). A controller of the lost terminal extracts current position information of the terminal from a GPS receiver and transmits the information to the loss-informing server(S312). The loss-informing server stores the current position information of the terminal in the database and generates a character message or a voice message including the position information(S313), and stores it in a personal mail box of the user or sends an e-mail to a registered mail account of the user(S314). If the user has requested 'periodical notification' in advance(S315), the loss-informing server checks a 'notification period' as set by the user, and when it reaches the notification period, the current position transmission request, the terminal's current position extraction and transmission process, and the notification process are repeatedly performed(S316).
