A vehicle wheel consists of a tire (1), a rim ring (6) and an emergency support member (5). The tire has webbing (8), two side walls (10,11), a carcass (9) with strengthening carriers and two carcass edge regions (16,17). The emergency rim ring is hollow and contains support elements. The rim ring consists of a fibre laminate plastic, or a metal alloy, and the adaptor ring consists of an elastic material especially a metal. The rim ring surface is wetted with a lubricant which is held in a reservoir in the hollow section. The inside of the two tire side walls contain self supporting layers.
