The manual control for adjusting the position of a car seat comprises a lever (2) which operates drive cables (3, 4) one at a time. The lever is connected to drive wheels (3a, 4a) which cooperate with a driven wheel (5). Freewheel locks (4d) are fitted on the drive wheels to prevent them running backwards. The cables both run over the driven wheel at different speeds and the locks are arranged in a row.
