PURPOSE: To solve the problem of a conventional technique that any vessel having a large water plane angle cruising at a speed of a middle range causes a large bulge of the water surface, which may cause a wave collapse from the wave top of a bow wave, resulting in greater wave resistance at the bow, and leads to a large increase in engine power and an increase in fuel consumption. CONSTITUTION: The middle speed vessel having a box-shaped hold and cruising at a comparatively higher speed than a tanker or bulk carrier and having a field number of 0.18-0.23, is structured so that the bow forefront line forming the bow profile is made approximately identical to the front perpendicular line and also made approximately identical to the forefront of the vessel about its overall length, by extending from the bow bottom position below the designed load draft line approximately vertical up to the upper deck and also the water plane shape of the approximately vertical range is made acute.
