The shut-off valve (1) has a valve component (2) which lies upon a valve seat when the valve is closed and is movable into an open position by fluid flow against the force of a spring-elastic return element (4). The valve component on the inlet flow side has an impingement surface (3) which is installed in a plane orientated approximately at right angles to the direction of flow. The annular gap (6) defined by the valve component has a nozzle-form convergence which increases against the closing direction of the valve component.
