PURPOSE: A connecting rod and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to reduce manufacturing cost and improve productivity of the connecting rod by forming a large-diameter section with metal and forming a small-diameter section and a shank section with special steel or non-metallic alloy. CONSTITUTION: A connecting rod includes a large-diameter section(2) made of metal, a shank section(4) and a small-diameter section(6). The shank section(4) and the small-diameter section(6) are made of special steel or non-metallic alloy. Coupling holes(7,8) are formed in the large-diameter section(2) and the small-diameter section(6), respectively, in such a manner that the large-diameter section(2) and the small-diameter section(6) are connected to a crank shaft and a piston. The shank section(4) has an H-shaped sectional area in order to reduce a weight of the connecting rod.
