METHOD FOR REDUCING DOWNLOADING TIME IN MULTIMEDIA MESSAGING SERVICE

PURPOSE: A method for reducing downloading time in an MMS(Multimedia Messaging Service) is provided to transcode notification information into a multimedia message recognizable by an incoming mobile terminal in advance, and to immediately download the transcoded multimedia message, thereby reducing downloading time of the MMS. CONSTITUTION: If a multimedia message is received from an originating mobile terminal, an MMS relay server requests information of an incoming mobile terminal to a terminal DB server(201). The terminal DB server reads the incoming mobile terminal information stored in a terminal DB, to provide the information to the MMS relay server(202). The MMS relay server requests transcoding to a transcoder(203). The transcoder transcodes the multimedia message in a type recognizable by the incoming mobile terminal, to provide the transcoded multimedia message to the MMS relay server(204). The MMS relay server provides notification information to an SMSS(Short Message Service Server)(205). The SMSS provides the notification information to the incoming mobile terminal(206). And the incoming mobile terminal receives the notification information and downloads the transcoded multimedia message from the MMS relay server(207).
