METHOD FOR PRODUCING HALOGENOPHENYLPYRUVIC ACID AND OPTICALLY ACTIVE HALOGENOPHENYLALANINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a halogenophenylpyruvic acid and an optically active halogenophenylalanine industrially and economically advantageously. SOLUTION: This method for producing the halogenophenylpyruvic acid is characterized by hydrolyzing 4-(halogenobenzilidene)-2-a lower alkyl-5- oxazoloene by an alkali metal hydroxide, and then hydrolyzing the obtained 2-(a lower alkanylamino)-3-(halogenophenyl)propenoic acid in a mixed solvent of water with an ether-based solvent by an acid. The method for producing the optically active halogenophenylalanine is characterized by treating the obtained halogenophenylpyruvic acid in the presence of an amino acid donor with a transaminase.
