PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To steplessly adjust the opening of a door, which is of hatchback type such as in a station wagon or a coupe type car, and stop the door at any position when opening it, by providing a means to regulate the opening in a gas spring that assists the opening-closing force of the door. SOLUTION: In the hatchback-type door that opens with an operating force reduced by the assisting force of the gas pressure of the gas spring, which is installed between the car body and the door that opens and closes in the vertical plane, the opening regulating means is provided between the cylinder of the gas spring and its piston rod to steplessly determine the door opening position and hold the door at any angle. The door opening is regulated by the gas spring that extends to the position adjusted by the opening regulating means when the gas spring is stroked in the direction of opening the door while extending the gas spring.
