PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure high-density printing, to prevent blotting, and to shorten a drying time for a recording liquid, while maintaining a printing speed. SOLUTION: In an image forming device wherein a tone is represented by forming a pixel of each dot on a recording medium, a dot density changeover means which changes over a dot density by a certain multiple with a certain density (pixel area rate) used as a threshold is provided so that a main scanning speed can be kept constant irrespective of the density on the occasion of forming an image. Besides, a mode changeover means which changes over a recording liquid low-consumption mode and a high-speed printing mode to each other is provided and, in the high-speed printing mode, tone representation is made by changeover from a pixel 106 to a pixel 110, using as the threshold the density in the case when the dots formed adjacently circumscribe each other, while in the recording liquid low-consumption mode, the tone representation is made by changeover from a pixel 103 to a pixel 107, using as the threshold the density of the pixel (pixel area rate) among those of a high dot density at which the quantity of discharge of a recording liquid is the smallest. |
