PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract a region of interest (ROI) without damage by correctly and efficiently removing an unnecessary region in an image which is obtained by performing volume rendering in voxel data from which an effective region is extracted. SOLUTION: The effective region is extracted from voxel data (S101 and S102), a seed region is set in ROI in the effective region (S103 and S104) and an expansion degree is designated (S105). The seed region is expanded in response to the expansion degree in a connection region in the effective region (S106) and the expanded seed region is removed or extracted from the effective region (S113).
