PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an abnormal sound or uneven wear hard to occur by eliminating a step between left and right slide contact faces on both the sides of a slit part in a sliding member and to provide stable frictional resistance by preventing the slit part from being irregularly warped by the step as well in a vibration proof device for a washing machine combined with spin drying in which an outer tub for receiving water during spin drying is elastically supported. SOLUTION: In a hanging part 17 for elastically supporting the outer tub 12 for receiving water during spin drying, the upper end of a hanging rod 18 is held on the upper part of a machine body 16 of the washing machine, a spring supporting plate 20 is mounted on the bottom of the hanging rod 18, and the sliding member 19 through which the hanging rod 18 is inserted has a slide contact face 19a in slide contact with the outer tub 12 and is provided with the slit part 22 for dividing the lower part of the member 19 almost perpendicularly. A spiral spring member 21 is provided between the spring supporting plate 20 and the lower part of the sliding member 19, the spring member 21 has an adhesive part 21a coiled twice or more, and an opening part 22a of the slit part 22 on the sliding member 19 is held by the adhesive part 21a.
