PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a female material for hook-and-loop fasteners and a production method thereof which minimizes peeling sounds while having engaging forces posing no practical problems. SOLUTION: In the female material for hook-and-loop fasteners, numerous loops and cut loops produced by a needle punch are arranged on at least one side of a long-fiber nonwoven fabric comprising synthetic fibers and fixed by resin work with an adhesive. In the production method of the female material for hook-and-loop fasteners, when the numerous loops are formed with the needle punch on at least one surface of the female material for hook-and-loop fasteners with the peeling sounds of 65 dB or less and the gas permeability of 100 cc/cm<2> /sec or more and the long-fiber nonwoven fabric, 5 to 50% of a plurality of single fibers held with a needle are cut while the loops are formed at the density of 120 pieces/cm<2> . Then, the loops thus formed are fixed by the resin work with the adhesive.
