PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pillion step structure for a scooter type motorcycle capable of giving a control touch when operating a pillion step for opening and closing with a compact structure and capable of easily putting the pillion step in/out with a foot. SOLUTION: In a scooter type motorcycle with the structure wherein a pair of pillion steps 47 for a fellow passenger are arranged in both sides of a car body under a seat, each pillion step 47 is turnably supported and possible to be put in/out of a recessed part 12a formed in a car body. A torsion spring 53 is arranged on a surface parallel with a pillion step turning surface provided in a lower side of the pillion step 47, and the torsion spring 53 gives a control touch when operating the pillion step 47 for opening and closing.
