PURPOSE: A home automation control apparatus and a method using GPS(Global Positioning System) are provided to recognize a position of a user by using a GPS module receiving a GPS signal and control home appliances. CONSTITUTION: A GPS satellite(1) transmits a GPS signal to the ground. A mobile terminal(2) receives the GPS signal to recognize position information, codes the position information in a character message format and transmits it to a mobile communication network(3). A GPS server(4) receives the character message through the mobile communication network(3), recognizes position information corresponding to a user, and stores the information in a database. A home automation(6) connects to the GPS server(4) through an Internet network(5) to recognize the position of the user, and controls operation of a home appliance.
